Dipl.-Ing. M.Sc. Fadi Al Machot

Fadi Al Machot studied computer science at the University of Potsdam between 2005 and 2010. He received his degree Diploma in the field of artificial intelligence. He also focused on the field of the data mining and computer vision. During his studies he worked with Celon AG which is a member of the Olympus Medical Systems Group, Tokyo, Japan. Between 2008-2010 he was working as software developer in  "LUFTBILD UMWELT PLANUNG" (LUP) for geomatics and spatial information management. In April 2010 he started his PhD work at the Klagenfurt University in the Transportation Informatics Group.

Dipl.-Ing. Torsten Andre

Torsten Andre studied Computer Engineering at RWTH-Aachen University between 2004 and 2009 where he received his Diploma degree. His work included analytical models for the evaluation of 4G wireless mobile systems and contributions to the WINNER+Evaluation Group for LTE-Advanced. Since November 2010 Torsten is employed at the Mobile Systems Group as a research and teaching staff member and is working towards his PhD in the project RELAY.

Mag. Matteo Agostinelli

Matteo Agostinelli was born in Udine in 1981. In 2006 he received the Laurea Magistrale (M.S.) degree at the University of Udine in Electronics Engineering.
From 2006 to 2008 he worked as a research associate at the University of Udine, focusing on low-power digital circuit techniques and nanoscale innovative devices (Multi-Gate FETs, FinFETs). In September 2008 he started his PhD work in the Embedded Systems and Signal Processing group in cooperation with Infineon Technologies. His research is currently focused on energy-efficient PWM DC-DC converters for wireless applications.

Dipl.-Ing. Günther Brandner

Günther Brandner was born in 1982 in Villach, Austria. Between 2002 and 2007 he studied Computer Science at the University of Klagenfurt, where he received the degree Dipl.-Ing. with distinction. At the moment, he is studying technical mathematics. Since March 2008 he is a member of the Mobile Systems Group at the University of Klagenfurt where he is working towards his PhD. He is focusing his research activities in the field of cooperative relaying in wireless networks. In particularly, he is concered with relay selection protocols.

MSc John NA Brown BEd

John NA Brown was born in 1963, in Toronto, Canada. He earned an honours bachelor degree in Cultural Anthropology at McMaster University, in 1986. After a short stay in The People's Republic of China, Mr Brown returned to McMaster for a year, graduating Summa Cum Laude in Linguistics in 1989. Brock University granted him a Bachelor of Education in 1991. Mr Brown worked as a teacher for several years, earning provincial awards for teaching technical sciences and a national award for teaching writing.  In 2011, Mr Brown became a member of the Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctorate Program in Interactive and Cognitive Environments (EMJD ICE), and moved to Klagenfurt to work with Prof Martin Hitz and his Interactive Systems Research Group.

Dipl.-Ing. Bernhard Dieber

Bernhard Dieber was born 1984 in Friesach, Austria. He studied "Applied Informatics" at Klagenfurt University. In 2006 he attended an exchange semester at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zürich. In 2008 he received his DI-degree, doing his Diploma Thesis in the field of RFID-Localization at the Institute for Networked and Embedded Systems (Pervasive Computing Group). Parallel to his studies he worked as an independent software-developer. In May 2008 he joined the Pervasive Computing Group at Klagenfurt University.

Dipl.-Ing. Lukas Esterle

Lukas Esterle was born 1983 in Steyr, Austria. He studied Computer Science at Klagenfurt University. In 2006 and 2007 he worked as a software engineer intern at BMW in Steyr. From 2008 till 2009 he spent ten months in the USA working as an intern at Rether Networks Inc. in Stony Brook, NY. In 2010 he received his Dipl.-Ing.-degree, doing his master thesis on identifying spatial relationships in digital images at the Institute of Information Technology (Distributed Multimedia Systems). In September 2010 he joined the Pervasive Computing Group at Klagenfurt University. He works in the Lakeside Labs Cluster Project EPiCS

Dipl.-Ing. Dominik Egartner

Dominik Egarter was born in 1986 in Spittal an der Drau. He attended the Higher Technicial School for Electrical Engineering in Klagenfurt and graduated in 2007. From 2007 to the beginning of 2012 he studied Information Technology at the University of Klagenfurt. In December 2007 he joined the Mobile Systems Group as a student system administrator. After graduating he commenced his job as a research staff member at the Lakeside Labs in Klagenfurt where he is now working towards his PhD in the project Smart Microgrid.

MSc Alireza Fasih

Alireza Fasih is a research assistant in the Transportation Informatics Group of the University of Klagenfurt.  He received his BSc Degree and MSc Degree in Computer Engineering from Iran, in 2005 and 2007 respectively. He is currently pursuing a Doctorate Degree in Information Technology at University of Klagenfurt in the area of Intelligent Transportation Systems. He has done many projects during his study and research such as Vehicle Classification (FFG), Light Instrument Calibration for Peugeot, Plate License Recognition, Traffic Sensor Information Analysis etc. His research interests include High Performance Computing, FPGA-Based/Reconfigurable Computing, Digital Signal/Image Processing, Cellular Neural Networks, Artificial Neural Network and Evolutionary Algorithms.

MSc Istvan Fehervari

István Fehérvári was born in 1984 in Mór, Hungary. He studied Mechanical Engineering at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics specializing in Integrated Engineering. In July 2008 he received his master degree, doing his thesis in the field of vision-guided robot disassembly processes. Since September 2008 he is employed as a Researcher at Lakeside Labs in Klagenfurt where he is working towards his PhD.

MSc Alexander Gogolev

Alexander was born in Sortavala, Russia, in 1982. After earning his B.Sc. in computer science in 2004 from Petrozavodsk State University, he joined the Lab127 company for an environmental WSN development project. He graduated from university with M.Sc. in 2006 and started working there as a part-time researcher. He also took part in some small  lab127 R&D projects in the field of WSN. In 2010 he moved to Helsinki to work at the Institute for Information Technology participating in a networking research group project on mobile HIP. He joined the EMJD ICE program at the University of Klagenfurt in April 2011.

BSc Patrik Grausberg

Born in Vienna, Patrik Grausberg is now a technician and research assistant of the Institute of Smart System-Technologies at Alpen-Adria University Klagenfurt, Austria. He received his BSc in Medical Information Technology at the FH Kärnten 2006. Currently he is doing his Masters for Transportation Informatics at the Alpen-Adria University Klagenfurt and is also working as research assistant, management support and technical support in many projects of the Institute of Smart System-Technologies.

Dipl.-Ing. Mario Guggenberger

Mario Guggenberger studied Computer Science at Klagenfurt University and received his master's degree in 2012 with distinction. In his diploma thesis he investigated automatic synchronization of multimedia recordings based on audio, taken from heterogeneous sources like digital consumer cameras, video cameras, smartphones and professional recording gear at distinct events like music concerts or speeches. Between 2007 and 2012 he worked at the Information Technology Service (Zentraler Informatikdienst) at Klagenfurt University where he designed and built intranet applications. In his current position as university assistant within the Lakeside Labs project "Code-MM" he continues his research in the multimedia field.

Dipl.-Ing. Herwig Guggi

Herwig Guggi was born in Klagenfurt in 1984. His technical education started at the HTL (higher institute for technical education) for Electronics, Telecommunication and Computer Techniques in Klagenfurt. After school he began his studies of Telematics at the University of Technology in Graz. During the studies he was involved in several projects in the fields of RFID, near field communication and trusted computing. In 2008/2009 he worked on his master thesis on image fusion in cooperation with CTR (carinthia tech research) which he finished in February 2009. From 2009 to 2011 he worked on the CLIC prject with the TU Wien and TTTech (an industrial partner). In 2011 he joined the team of the the Lakeside Labs Cluster project EPICS.

DI (FH) Christian Hofbauer

Christian Hofbauer was born in 1982 in St. Peter am Wimberg, Austria. Between 2002 and 2006, he studied Hardware/Software Systems Engineering at the University of Applied Sciences of Upper Austria. He earned his DI (FH) degree, doing his thesis "High level refinement and implementation cost estimation for Matlab/Simulink models, targeting handheld Software Defined Radio architectures" at the research institute IMEC in Belgium. In January 2007, he started investigating spatial diversity techniques for MIMO systems at IMEC. Since September 2007, Christian Hofbauer is a member of the Embedded Systems and Signal Processing Group. Currently, he focuses his research activities on cooperative relaying in wireless networks.

Dipl.Ing. Bakk.techn. Marian Kogler

Marian Kogler was born in the year 1983 in Klagenfurt, Austria.  He studied computer science at Klagenfurt University with a focus on distributed multimedia systems. Beside his studies he worked at BAP enterprise, developing enterprise resource planning software and M3-Systems research lab. He finished his studies in April 2009 with his Master?s thesis entitled "command protocols in distributed and video supported traffic management systems",  which was one of the outcomes of a national project with the ASFINAG as the industrial partner.
He joined the Distributed Multimedia Systems Group in May 2009, where he is currently working on his Ph.D. thesis within a Lakeside Labs research project called SOMA.

Dipl.-Ing. Robert Kuschnig

Robert Kuschnig was born in the year 1976 in Klagenfurt, Austria. Between 1996 and 2006 he studied "Technical Physics at the Graz University of Technology". From 2000 till 2002 he worked as a digital designer at Infineon. 2002 he did a feasibility study for a timing driven place and route layout tool for mixed signal designs at Infineon. He studied Computer Science at Klagenfurt University between 2000 and 2006. In the year 2006 he received his master degree in computer science. From 2006 to 2007 he worked as a software developer and architect for a web-based supply chain solution at appliLog. Since 2007 he is a project assistant at the department of Information Technology, Klagenfurt University, where he is working partly on the Lakeside Labs microdrones project.

Dipl.-Ing. M.A. Johannes Klinglmayr

Johannes Klinglmayr studied technical mathematics at the Technical University of Vienna between 2002 and 2007. He received his degree Diploma Engineer (with distinction) in the field of optimization of nonlinear systems. He also focused on the field of the finite element method in its mathematical theory. In 2007 and 2008 he studied at the University of Michigan, USA. There he obtained the Master of Arts degree in the field of applied mathematics. His center of interest were partial differential equations and their applications in physics. Since September 2008 he is part of the research staff at Lakeside Labs working towards his PhD.

Dipl.-Ing. Vera Mersheeva

Vera Mersheeva was born in 1987 in Chita/Russian Federation. She began her studies at the Chita State University at the Department of Information Computer Technologies and Applied Mathematics in 2005. Parallel to her studies she worked in the Center of New Information Technologies (department of Internet Technologies) at the University of Chita. She received her Specialist degree with honour in speciality ?Software for computers and automatic systems?. Her Diploma thesis was in the field of calculation of the thermal power plants. She supports the cDrones Project as research staff member since August 2010 and is now working towards her PhD in the project Collaborative Microdrones.

Dipl.-Ing. Nikolaj Marchenko

Nikolaj Marchenko graduated from RWTH Aachen University in 2007 with Diploma degree in Computer Engineering and main focus on Wireless Communications. During his studies he was also working with Ericsson Eurolab Aachen and Siemens Corporate Research, Princeton, NJ, USA. Since January 2008 he is employed as a Researcher at Lakeside Labs in Klagenfurt where he is working towards his PhD.

Mag. Dipl.-Ing. Bernd Münzer

Bernd Münzer studied Informatics and Information Management at Klagenfurt University and received his Masters's degrees in 2011 (Information Management, Mag.) and 2012 (Informatics, Dipl.-Ing.), both with distinction. In his diploma theses he first surveyed the current situation of video recording and usage in the medical domain of endoscopy and gave a comprehensive market overview of currently available systems. Based on that, he further investigated in detail how content-based video analysis could be incorporated in such systems in order to improve management efficiency and generate an added value for physicians. In his current position as project assistent within the Lakeside Labs project "Code-MM" he continues his research in this field.

MSc Ágnes Pintér-Bartha

Ágnes Pintér-Bartha was born in Kézdivásárhely (Targu Secuiesc), Romania. She studied Computer Science at the University of Eötvös Loránd, Budapest, Hungary. In 2008, she was an exchange student at Alpen-Adria University of Klagenfurt. During her studies she worked part-time at Graphisoft SE and at ELearning Department of Computer and Automation Research Institute, Hungarian Academy of Science. In 2011 she finished her Master Thesis on "EEG data analysis using artificial intelligence methods". From September 2009 until October 2011 she was working at Ericsson Hungary Ltd. as a Software Developer. Since October 2011 she has been employed as a Researcher at Lakeside Labs in Klagenfurt, where she is working towards her PhD in the project Modeling and Engineering of Self-Organizing Networks (MESON).

Dipl.-Ing. Felix Pletzer

Felix Pletzer was born in 1982 in Oberpullendorf, Austria. He studied Telematics at Graz University of Technology and received his Dipl.-Ing.-degree (with distinction) in April 2008. As part of his studies he spent 6 months at Siemens Corporate Research, Princeton, working on a service oriented middleware for wireless sensor networks. He wrote his master thesis at the Institute for Technical Informatics (ITI) in the field of middleware aspects and RF based localization and for wireless sensing nodes. In February 2009 he joined the Pervasive Computing Group at University of Klagenfurt, Austria, working as researcher on the SOMA project.

Dipl.-Ing. Manfred Pöchacker

Manfred Pöchacker was working in electricalengineeringat IFE-AG before he decided to study Technical Physics at the Technical University of Vienna. During his studies he spent half a year abroad at the Universidad Nacional de San Martin in Buenos Aires. He did his diploma thesis on a model of gene-regulation at the Complex System Research Group from the Medical University Vienna before he was working there as a researcher. Since February 2012 he is employed at the Mobile Systems Group working torwards his PhD on the Smart Microgrid project.

DI (FH) Robert Priewasser

Robert Priewasser was born in Salzburg, Austria in 1982. He received the Dipl.-Ing.(FH) degree at the University of Applied Siences of Upper Austria, study direction Hardware Software Systems Engineering with distinction. During his studies he spent 9 month at the research institute IMEC in Belgium, working on low power design for a wireless software defined radio platform. He also wrote his diploma thesis at IMEC in the field of forward error correction codes. In autumn 2007 he started his PhD work at the Klagenfurt University in the Embedded Systems and Signal Processing group. The research focus is on efficient power supplies for embedded platforms in general and on PWM-based DC-DC converters specifically.

Dipl.-Ing. Manfred Jürgen Primus

Manfred Jürgen Primus studied Computer Science at Klagenfurt University. During his internship he performed research on object recognition in videos taken in endoscopic shoulder surgery. In his master thesis he continued working with endoscopic videos. He investigated fully automated methods to generate panoramic images out of endoscopic videos, which are showing an overview of the shoulder joint's inside. After receiving his degree Dipl.-Ing. (with distinction) in May 2012 he joined the Lakeside Labs project "CodeMM" as project assistant in June 2012.

Dipl.-Ing. Christoph Unterrieder

Christoph Unterrieder was born in Graz, Austria, in 1985. His technical education started at the HTL for Electronics, Telecommunication and Computer Techniques in Klagenfurt, Mössingerstraße. From 2006 to the beginning of 2011 he studied Information Technology at the University of Klagenfurt. In his master thesis, he developed a power management demonstrator board for a solar-powered e-book reader device. In January 2011, he joined the Embedded Systems and Signal Processing group. Currently, his activity field is about solar- and battery- powered portable applications in cooperation with Infineon Technologies in Villach and Lakeside Labs in Klagenfurt.

Dipl.Ing. Thomas Winkler

Thomas Winkler was born in 1980 in Graz, Austria. He studied Telematics at Graz University of Technology. In 2005 he earned his Dipl. Ing. with distinction, doing his thesis in the field of embedded video surveillance systems at the Institute for Technical Informatics (ITI). In fall 2005 he joined the Institute for Applied Information Processing and Communications (IAIK) as a member of the EU research project "Open Trusted Computing" working on embedded security solutions. In May 2007 he joined the Pervasive Computing Group. His research is focused on pervasive smart camera systems covering system architectures as well as operating system and middleware aspects. Being a member of the JSR321 expert group, he also stays in touch with advances in Trusted Computing and investigates potential applications in the context of smart camera systems.

Dipl.-Ing. Daniel Wischounig-Strucl

Daniel Wischounig-Strucl was born in 1978 in Klagenfurt, Austria. He studied Telematics at Graz University of Technology. In 2006 he earned his Master of Science (Dipl.-Ing.)-degree with distinction, doing his thesis in the field of RF identification and system simulation on embedded platforms at the Institute for Technical Informatics (ITI). In June 2005 he joined the RF engineering group at CISC Semiconductor Design+Consulting GmbH in Klagenfurt as design and field applications engineer. He joined the Pervasive Computing Group in February 2009.

MSc Saeed Yahyanejad

Saeed Yahyanejad received his B.Sc. in Applied Mathematics from Sharif University of Technology in 2003. Thereafter he had been working for 4 years in the fields of network and database administration and the corresponding security issues. In 2009 he received his M.Sc. in Information and Communication Systems Security at the KTH - Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden. He joined the Pervasive Computing Group in September 2009 and researches on the "cDrones"- project.
