Abstract
The standerd procedures applied in system design can hardly be applied to the design of self-organizing systems which are built bottom up, while existing design strategies are top down approaches. The behavior of a self-organizing system emerges from the complex interactions of a typically largo number of interacting and interdependent entities. While the interaction rulos are usually simple, the emergent behavior can be quite cornplex and difficult to predict. This becomes a problern especially when we want to build technical solutions based on a self-organizing paradigm, i.e, to apply solf-organization in particular application domains.
The goal of this project is to dovelop the methods for modeling and engineoring SOS in the technical domain. In one work package, an optimization tool based on an evolutionary algoritlun applied to simulation-based validation will be providcd. Furthormoro, we will provido ease studies showing how the approach can be applied in different domains. For the case studies, a closo interaction with other Lakesiele Labs projects is planned.
