Robust Sensors in Traffic

Acronym: RoSIT

Abstract:

In order to alleviate congestion problems in populated areas, various traffic lights control concepts have been developed in the last couple of decades. They do, however, generally fail to cope with both the high dynamics of the traffic systems induced either by accidents or similar events and congestions. Also, the time-varying sensors data quality due to both sensors' imperfection and environmental conditions has found little consideration in the related state-of-the-art. The goal of this project is therefore to address these challenges by modeling, designing and fine-tuning appropriate concepts, which will be validated through simulations in a first step and then through extensive experiments in the frame of a real-world test-bed in the field in a second step.
